This important tribute to one of Africa’s most visionary directors, film lovers, filmmakers and journalists takes us on a journey through the life and work of the late Senegalese director Ousmane Sembene, who died in 2007. Set partly on Yoff’s Beach, a fishing village where Sembene lived, this potent documentary includes excerpts from his films and written texts, plus clips of his teaching the Art of Cinema in Cannes in 2005 and interviews featuring friends and admirers like Danny Glover, Charles Burnett and Haile Gerima.
